I’ve been pretty negative about the prospect of matching up with Bama but there are a few positives;

1). We are playing with house money, absolutely no one expects Notre Dame to even compete in this game. This is a very rare situation for a program like Notre Dame that is not only favored but expected to win every game outside of a select few matchups.

2). Notre Dame is going to spend weeks hearing from the talking heads that they don’t have a prayer, and Bama is going to be hearing that they have it in the bag.

3). The Clemson debacle will wake this team up at the very least and should leave a bad taste in their mouth heading into practice this week.

4). It sounds like Bama’s center is going to be out for the playoffs which as we’ve seen first hand is a big deal.

5). Bama’s secondary looked really vulnerable last night and TE Kyle Pitts made them pay. Notre Dame’s Michael Mayer is Notre Dame’s most comparable player so there should be plenty of opportunities for him to make an impact in the passing game.

Yeah it’s not much but It’s at least a few reasons to feel like Notre Dame can be competitive, what say you?
