SU’s Love at #2 has an interesting decision. If Mayfield plays well then Love does not gain.
If Love sits and Mayfield bombs he gains.
If Love plays and has a poor or ordinary game he does not close on Mayfield in either case.

The Ok. game is earlier and Love will know the results of the Oklahoma game and how well Mayfield played.
This knowledge may affect whether he plays. Whether or not he plays has national significance.

If I were Shaw, my first and second concern at this point is playing for the PAC 12 Championship. I keep Love on the bench and make a decision at halftime whether he plays based on the Washington score.
