Dear Alumni, Parents, and Friends,

During this time of unprecedented uncertainty and anxiety, I am writing on behalf of your Alumni Association to extend our heartfelt prayers and thoughts to you and your loved ones and all who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In recent days, it seems that life as we know it has come to a halt. For many, work is being done remotely; schools have transitioned to e-learning; Masses have been closed to the public; sports have been canceled; and our norms have been interrupted. For others, you find yourselves at the frontlines fighting to contain the spread of the virus; to those heroes, thank you for all you are doing to protect us.

There are also those of us who feel an elevated sense of unease and fear for myriad reasons — from concerns for our family members who may feel at risk by a simple trip to the grocery store, to those struggling to help loved ones return home from across the country or beyond international boundaries — we have all been impacted in different ways. It is heartening to see humanity coming together to support and care for one another.

As most of us look at increased time in our homes, the Alumni Association wants to support you and ensure that Notre Dame is always there for you.

In the midst of this holy Lenten season, dioceses throughout the world have made the incredibly difficult decision to close Masses to the public. As Father Jenkins shared in his message yesterday, if you are unable to celebrate Mass in person, we invite you to join the ND community and Congregation of Holy Cross virtually from the Basilica of the Sacred Heart. On Sundays, Mass is available live on CatholicTV at 10 a.m. ET. Daily Masses will be live-streamed at 11:30 a.m. ET Monday through Saturday on the Campus Ministry website.

For each of you in the Notre Dame family, please know the Green Candle at the Grotto burns brightly today and every day for you and those you love. If you have a special prayer request, please do share it with us, and we will pray it at the Grotto for you. We also invite you to join the 100,000+ members of the FaithND community in receiving the Daily Gospel Reflection in your inbox. The email includes the Gospel of the day, a reflection written by a member of the ND family, and a prayer written by a C.S.C. priest. It is a wonderful way to start each day, especially in these unsettled times.

Below are details on many of the ways you can stay connected to the University and your Notre Dame family. Whether you are looking to nourish your faith, continue your learning, connect with others in your industry, or read stories of alumni making an impact, we hope you will find something to comfort you and strengthen you during these difficult days.

Know that your Notre Dame family holds you, your loved ones, and all affected by the coronavirus closely in our prayers.

Yours in Notre Dame,
