This could be the toughest schedule in 20 plus seasons.

That is why I said this could be the greatest season Notre Dame has ever had!!!!

Not good enough. We need a schedule that consists of:
Bama
Georgia
OSU
Michigan
SC
Oregon
Texas
Oklahoma
Clemson
LSU
Miami
And lastly...
Wagner College.

Make all those games on the road too. This is how we turn boys into men!

What!? Lol
If those 3 teams go onto win their conference then find a tougher schedule ND has played in the past 20 years.

All 3 of those teams are favored to win their conference.

You said this could be the greatest season ever in ND history....

Come on

Yes!

If ND runs the table 12-0 with this schedule then wins a playoff game and championship game, you will be hard pressed to find a better season. Yes, o would put it over the 88’ championship because of the playoffs/championship games.

Huh?

This was a routine yearly Holtz schedule without a Marshall.

Perhaps you mean ND will have a big boy schedule for the first time in a long time?
You can’t control how good your opponent is when you finally play them. Schedules are made years in advance.

ND added Texas, who knew they would be down.

ND added the Sooners, Clemson, FSU (again, who knew they would be a struggling team.

SC has been down,

Now they added OSU,

They schedule strong teams every year.

The 88 team beat the number 1, 2, 3 and 9 teams in the country. And Miami had one of the great teams. This schedule is not that

And the 66 team beat 4 top 10 teams and gave up 3.8 ppg

Somewhere Lou is bent over laughing.

They're all big boy schedules.

If having the longest CFB winning streak in the nation against unranked competition was so easy, everyone would do it.

I wouldn't.
That 88 team might have had the toughest schedule of any title team ever of the Irish.

Michigan.. who finished #4 was 9th at game time

Miami #1

USC #2 guess who was #1

WVU #3

If you count Michigan as being a #4 at end of year...

That means they beat the #1, #2, #3 and #4 (years end) teams in the same season.

Now that's a god damn schedule.

P.s.
3 top 5 victories in one season....4 if you count years end...all in one season!!!

How far is Brian Kelly from being great?

1 top 5 win in his career in a weird Covid year @home against the backup QB.

I say again I'm so happy that era is over

I too am happy as hell BK is gone. I have always been neutral on LSU in the past. Im hoping they go 0-12 and they run the a$$ clown out of Louisiana!

If ND wins the playoff game and then the championship game, I am sure those 2 games alone will be against 2 top 3 teams.

Not one team in the history of ND football played 14 games. If ND finishes 14-0 this would be the greatest season ever.

If you are happy Brian Kelly is gone, what were your thoughts when Bob Davie, Ty Willingham, and Charlie Weis were all fired?

There was very little difference in the preseason analysis of our 2017 schedule vs the preseason analysis of our 2018 schedule. Our '17 opponents finished #3, #8, #10, #13, #16, and #24 in the final CFP rankings. Our '18 opponents finished #7, #20, and #22.

That's all I need to know about the value of preseason analysis on schedule strength :)

No comparison, all three were awful head coaches. BK was pretty damn good, but never great. I'm happy the "cajun" is gone. Tired of his arrogance, tired of losing damn near every "big boy" game he coached. He was NEVER going to get ND a championship. I'm excited for the season to start and to see Marcus coach.

I'm happy because of who we have now in charge and who he brought in as assistants.

For me it has nothing to do with Kelly, it has everything to do with MF

I'm also very happy with the hire. As you can probably surmise, I believe Brian Kelly was exactly what Notre Dame needed after Charlie Weis. And I believe his tenure was very successful, and he left MF a program that is in outstanding condition. Not perfect, but a solid foundation to build upon.

Holtz typically had 8-9 top 25 teams on the schedule with 2-4 of those being top 10 teams.

Las Vegas odds are not made to pick favorites. They are made to make money.
Very convenient response.

All I ever hear on this board is Vegas odds. “Vegas knows something we don’t”.
Yes, Vegas wants to make money. However, they tell you up front the risk of picking each team. Picking SC to win the Pac12 championship is the lowest risk.

I can buy that. But he went as far as he could go. He did a nice job but would never have gotten it done. Im hoping Marcus will!

Lincoln Riley just got hired. USC people love to bet. And there are hordes of them. It does not surprise me in the least Las Vegas has USC with the safest odds. Las Vegas wants to make $$$$$$$, not lose money. Why do you think all those opulent casinos and pools were built??

Utah is the actual favorite in the PAC 12. Then Oregon.

I like ND +15.5

SC isn’t favored to win the PAC-12, Utah is.
Vegas odds

Vegas odds have nothing to do with what teams may win conferences. They are just predictions of where the money will go. With SC so close to Vegas we are always over bet.

This is correct.

So, are you saying you will bet against Vegas odds???

Are you going to listen to biased beat writers over the odds makers???

Also, Vegas does NOT want you to bet on SC to win the PAC 12. They want you to put your money on the 5th team or lower. That’s how they make money.

If people bet on the favorite all the time Vegas makes little $$$$.

Exactly, they don’t want you to bet on SC they want you to bet on the 5th team or below on the list

I follow usc. I don't know anyone who pick us to win the Pac. I also haven't seen this in any publication. I also do know anyone serious who uses Vegas to predict conference winners. For example, SC is a favorite over ND to win the natty in Vegas, does that sound right to you?
