We can confirm reports that Notre Dame recently promoted director of recruiting Dre Brown is taking a job as director of player personnel for the Illinois football program. FootballScoop.com's John Brice was first with the news.
The 26-year-old from DeKalb, Ill., is an Illinois graduate and played running back for the Fighting Illini. He also has a master's from his alma mater. Brown joined Notre Dame at the tail end of the coach Brian Kelly Era in the summer of 2021 and has served in a variety of roles, with recruiting always a constant as he continued on with ND when Marcus Freeman became the head coach in December of 2021.
Assistant athletic director, player personnel Chad Bowden continues to lead Freeman's recruiting and scouting efforts and will be charged with replacing Brown.
