Just lost to Troy, now 2-2 with losses to Troy and Bowling Green. No going back, but man that's just a terrible loss. We are in the top 10 at 3-1.

Good thing they don’t play Troy or Bowling Green!Just lost to Troy, now 2-2 with losses to Troy and Bowling Green. No going back, but man that's just a terrible loss. We are in the top 10 at 3-1.
Brian Kelly lost to Tulsa his first year at ND and went 2-3 in his first five games. There is an adjustment when you switch coaches and you have to realize we have a first year head coach. If we played Marshall yesterday we probably beat them by three touchdowns.

Isn’t that how Urban Meyer started out at Ohio State ? NO ?Brian Kelly lost to Tulsa his first year at ND and went 2-3 in his first five games. You are so incredibly wrong on your assessment of Rees passing plays..Maybe...
But styles make fights and Marshall sold out and completely was better prepared to play us.
They sat on the curl and sit routes knowing full well Rees can't help himself to call those plays.
They were correct.
Kudos to them
I felt I was watching the NYGs of 1987.I felt like I was watching a game from 2018/19/20. Maybe even moreI f so....
What many don’t understand is the steepness of the “learning curve” that future opponents possess.I felt I was watching the NYGs of 1987.
It may be that Marshall and Appy State used up all of their mental energy and most of their physical in their big upsets. They are both 2-2 and not projected to win whatever conference.
Not a top ten team. Blessing in disguiseGood thing they don’t play Troy or Bowling Green!

Even if ND beats Marshall, ND would be a top 10 on paper not in reality.Just lost to Troy, now 2-2 with losses to Troy and Bowling Green. No going back, but man that's just a terrible loss. We are in the top 10 at 3-1.
Was BK OTJ training his first 7 years of his ND career? There was no excuse for losing to Marshall.
NONE.
It was a team failure; from the players to the coaches.
EVERYONE screwed that pooch.
BUT in the end its on Freeman for NOT having his team ready to play.
OJT for a HC means games like that.
No excuse then either. Failure of the Head Coach to prepare his team. Was BK OTJ training his first 7 years of his ND career?
How about his first year was that OTJ training? Remember south florida
He cost us one game, maybe. And thats due to maybe trusting TRees. Nothing he really did. Hes a defensive coach, that side of the ball is playing well. You can say he put the trust in the wrong guy, maybe, we'll seeNo excuse then either. Failure of the Head Coach to prepare his team.
Are so rabid to defend Freeman you cannot admit he is costing us games because he simply is not ready to be a HC?
The Marshall game exposes MF’s lack of experience. He should have know since he was hired that Marshall was a letdown no matter the outcome at OSU"No going back, but man that's just a terrible loss. We are in the top 10 at 3-1. "
The Marshall loss was bad, but, you learn, adjust and move on -- quit dwelling on it. Marshall came to play, and ND was still hungover from OSU (same thing happened a year ago when ND slept-walked vs Toledo after a physical, emotional game vs FSU).
That said - ND is not a top 10 team -- in its current form (3-1 or 2-2).
DC Gene Chizik was pretty dense if he watched the 2nd half of our Cal game and didn't think we would keep running half back dives. What many don’t understand is the steepness of the “learning curve” that future opponents possess.
Future opponents study films and analyze, then determine their strategy for negating the other team’s offense and defense. As the season matures the data base increases.
Opponents tend to figure out what the other teams are doing and try to do their best to counter it.
Obviously talent, intellect and execution help determine outcomes, but no team possesses the secret sauce for very long.
Freeman and Rees needed that loss.Just lost to Troy, now 2-2 with losses to Troy and Bowling Green. No going back, but man that's just a terrible loss. We are in the top 10 at 3-1.
