Dan Wolken reported it was unprofessional and tense in ND locker room after the game. Anyone have insight?

Bizarre scenes from the Notre Dame locker room, players yelling at reporters, coaches warning people not to ask certain questions. Amateur hour," Wolken wrote on X.

Another source reported that there were plenty of emotions and players were "distraught" in the locker room, and rightfully so.

Should be......... You have a DC that literally looked like he was trying to lose the game, a head coach making moronic decisions, and two defensive players (Gray & Bowen) that were so mentally out of it and their assignments. Players should be pissed, a great opportunity squandered.

Couch critic.

I guess me and every media person, and every expert, and everyone that watched the game are "couch critics" because it was obvious how bad golden was last night.
I wish you were our coach. We'd score on every drive and the other teams would only get a first down when we decided our defense needed to practice a little more. You are just an insufferable know-it-all.

Best post in the thread.

I'm sure everyone in that locker room was upset. Hell I hope they were because if they weren't, they aren't the competitors that we thought they were. I'm sure it was blown out of proportion as the media always does to get a storyline. I have a hard time believing Freemans group would be that distraught. He's had a great handle on this team since he took over.

Or how good Chip Kelly was last night. But let’s be honest, our DL is not national championship quality when you remove Mills and Botelho and Traore from the equation, and add an ineffective injured Cross. Damn hard to be an effective DC when you are trying to compensate for a DL that can’t stop the run or apply any QB pressure.

I guarantee they didn't want to be asked any BK questions. Which they would have been asked. For effin' certain. Because that's the monster that's been created. That's been half the talk surrounding ND football MF edition leading up to this game and all throughout the playoff.

Get a room with Chaseball. You two deserve each other.

Take media with a grain of salt. Sensationalism and lying sell because of the web monetization model. I don't trust pretty much anything from the media.

As if reporters will be privy to and report faithfully details of the state of mind of so many players and coaches...all from being in the locker room for some moments.

Maybe these kids were just really upset they lost the biggest game of the year. I don’t know I wasn’t in the locker room. But playing sports and giving every ounce of energy you have , only to lose, it effing sucks !! Maybe give them some space for an hour before you stick cameras or microphones in their faces. I’ll say this. If they are hurting, that’s a good thing. To me it means you care and are super competitive.

THIS! Not to mention we were without our best player -- Ben Morrison -- while facing 3 5* WRs! A testament to Marcus that we got as far as we did. I don't believe any of this s- about post-game professionalism. I really really hope we were sore losers, I hope it stuck in our craw, I'm tired of 'at least we got there' mentality and nice guy s - .

Our O-line got pushed around too -- actually better in pass pro. Terrible in run blocking but look --- we were again, making due with new players, players playing hurt, etc... We will be better next year!

Our D line was the biggest reason we lost.
Also the D play calling was off last night also.
Felt like Golden went away from what we did all year long with success -- I understand, we were playing he best team we played all year -- but when we went back to what we have been doing all year (apart from the Judkin run) we got some stops in the second half.

A Freshman, and two Sophomores at the CB and S positions. We will get better.

This is true. Was it just one guy, one millennial geek, who's probably not even a sports fan, and he taught himself sports because this represented his best, most viable path for a career in journalism, and naturally the ND locker room was heated and the energy was angry, especially considering how we fell behind so badly and then almost caught up and it might have felt like an opportunity squandered and so there was a palpable frustration in the air, and he was overwhelmed or taken aback and couldn't quite cope with it as a sheltered meritocracy brat, and the typically more cordial locker room rapport that he's used to wasn't present in this instance, and instead of making proper sense of the mood and the moment, and just hanging back for a bit, he got flustered and went to twitter and started ratting on the ND locker room vibe like a little bitch.

I could picture that. And someone like that probably would have asked them about BK/MF, and what does this painful defeat say about the program vis a vis the two coaches.

I work with media. Did it in the military. Now in tech.

They all want $$$. That web hits thing. They're angry because they don't make $$$. They think they're special, educated, and knowledgeable and deserve more.

They're a subculture. Read The Athletic. And comments...smarmy activist posters bringing social issues into sports,

I really think it was Ohio State being the best O ND faced. And ND D depletion finally showed...but it nevertheless was close.

I keep harping on that 3rd and 11...a lot of the game came down to that...encapsulating the entire ND identity.

Massive blitz. Man to man. Gray vs Smith. Make that play and give the O that chance to likely tie and go OT.

Yes, it will get better. I'm confident of that...best Irish outfit since Holtz.

Finally, I could be wrong, but I believe the administration is more fully committed to football. And will throw the kitchen, short of fake degrees...but even explore getting remedial athletes with some better way to hang academically.

Well I guess it was just this one dork, who absolutely looks like a douchebag if you google his name. And other than that, the locker room atmosphere was fairly typical for a hard fought loss in a championship game. And I read his inane little write-up in USA Today, that powerhouse of serious American journalism, and I might be right, he might be the type who has never been much of a real sports person, but who did want a cool job. I never heard of him anyway until today.

We almost never rushed only 3 …. Did that a bunch vs osu… Howard ran all over us … dumb

Almost never played cover 0…. Don’t need to… golden don’t have a good plan and was just guessing. Terrible job … 3rd and 11 cover 0 is unexpected because it’s dumb

I don't want to be too general and too judgmental, but I've come to detest the media in general. It used to be who, when, where, and what...now it's all too often the why, with bias.

A good journalist is rare these days. Too many of them. Too much real time opining other than true reporting.

In sports, a lot don't very well know the game they report on.

Again, ND had a chance to make the game like vs Georgia and PSU...hanging in there, on the edge of a turn around through grit, toughness, and execution. tOSU was the best opponent, where that moment was executed enough on a few plays.

That 3rd and 11 worked much of the season. It just didn't vs a very good Howard and supremely talented Smith. I don't at all believe that play nor the game really came down to play calling.

As so many nicely said, sometimes the other team is just better. And don't spit in the face of being a very worthy #2 that can aspire to be #1.

There was nothing in the article. Seems like the guy just copied & pasted this thread. Players pissed off after a big loss. Excellent! Watch the 30 for 30 ( get pass the Walshy 😩 ). Lou Holtz talks about 1 player being genuinely upset & he wasn’t a starter…….Chris Zorich.
When I was a junior and lost the state wrestling championship I didn't look at my runner up trouph for months, and didn't appreciate it for years.
I genuinely understand the heartache, disappointment, frustration, anger, they must have felt, for many still do
I will say that Leonard post game presser was one of the best I have ever heard.
What a class guy and an inspiration

Sorry, when did we have a team at 3rd and long, say more than 3rd and 7 and run cover 0 this year? We did it a bunch on 3rd and shorts forcing a team to throw when they didn't want to. OSU wanted and had to throw, and we made it VERY easy
