Jimbo always starts well. But then....Jimbo has to overpay to get top assistants to work for him. In his last two years at FSU, nearly all the assistants in Tallahassee were second or third rate. His attempts to get better coaches failed - Jeremy Pruitt basically trashed him behind the scenes, Elko initially turned him down until Jimbo offered more money. Surprised Elko is still there. Jeremy Pruitt abandoned Jimbo two days after FSU won the national championship - to take a lateral job at UGA with Richt. That speaks volumes. When Jimbo arrived at A&M, the only coach from Sumlin he retained was the O Line coach. But he left after one season. The coach that is part of the current NCAA investigation - Jay Graham - is already gone. The one coach he took from FSU - Brewster - is already gone
The Aggies are currently funding the money pot that Jimbo needs. The current violations are minor....but they do involve the direct interaction of Jimbo in the actual violation. That is not a small thing. The AD that hired Jimbo is now at LSU, and the new AD has no need to be loyal.
