Apparently Meadows is now going to Bama.

This kid is all over the place.

He seems soft. Unproductive in HS. We've had WRs like this, and it's never worked out. Several guys like him that came here, disappointed, then left.

I said it months ago, and I'll say it again: 50/50 chance that Faison has a better college career than Meadows.

We are always hoping for the next Will Fuller. But too often we get guys like Jordan Johnson or Tobias Merriweather, who do not work out. Johnson, in particular, was a complete mystery, given his 5* rating. Recruiting is always a crap shoot. Meadows will do what he thinks will work out best for him. And that is fine.

HS WR recruiting for Notre Dame has been a mystery.

And not just Derek Meadows.

The more a recruit changes his mind, the less I hope he comes to ND. There does appear to be a correlation (there was an article about this after Knight decommitted) with kids changing commits multiple times and not having a stellar career. It indicates a lack of commitment to the game overall and thus the player never reaches full potential.

The transfer portal can be a useful tool for many athletes especially for fifth year grad transfer. Sometimes guys and school are just not the right fit. Some are just buried on the depth chart and have to “move down” in order to play. That said many of these players will have no future camaraderie with a school or classmates. Their degrees are a hodgepodge of curriculum at 3+ schools. Agents, friends, or coaches leave them with misleading expectations. Both FLORES and MERRIWEATHER have had a decrease in production at UCLA and CAL and probably would had better athletic years if they had remained at NOTRE DAME.

I'm not surprised. Again, if you're transferring it likely indicates you're not reaching your full potential for whatever reason. Blame the coaches/program all you want. Every year there are players being drafted from small underachieving programs that go on to have decent or even great NFL careers. These guys find a way to have success despite not having the benefits of a thriving well-resourced football program.

I think it's because Flores and Merriweather both suck. Transferring is no big deal. You're overstating what a wrenching experience it is. Flores was only a freshman anyway, he wasn't that invested in ND. And I mean yeah, they could have stayed, I don't know what to say, they didn't. If they can't get on the field at UCLA and Cal they probably do suck. The same way Deion Colzie does and he stayed.

In any case they retain the freedom to transfer without penalty, if that's what you're getting at.

Probably because getting good enough to be able to play in the NFL does not require the resources of a top tier CFB program. In fact there's no relationship at all, it might even be a negative. Namely you don't play as much.

Both of them have been injured. Flores has been out since mid October, and Merriweather started practicing in late October. At least check your facts before you post garbage.

Well, I’m surprised! Thought he was Michigan bound with Underwood. Just really like the guys that commit and stick with their commitments, and avoid all the damn drama. Love Faison’s brother and I agree with you.
