BW appears to be a mid to late first round NBA draft pick. I completely understand his decision, first round draft picks get guaranteed contracts and it’s the realization of a lifelong dream. I’m old enough to remember the cautionary tale of Chris Thomas, had he gone pro after his sophomore year he would have been drafted, he choose to comeback and his career derailed and he never made an NBA roster. But part of me was hoping BW would come back to improve his draft status into a lottery pick and team up with an absolutely STUD recruiting class in 2022/2023.

“For all sad words of tongue and pen, the saddest are these, “It might have been.”

I don’t watch much NBA, basically just some post season so what do I know … Wesley could not reach the rim or the foul line 6 straight possessions down the stretch vs TT (turned away 3 times and turned over 3 times) … it’s hard for me to imagine how he will create offense in the NBA but that is my barely informed opinion.

I would genuinely be interested in some opinions or explanations.

Well, he's not going to play much his first year or 2 I don't think. He's a developmental piece. He needs to get stronger and develop his game. Maybe in the summer leagues and the G league

But the college game is more physical and less space than the nba. There is also more zone in college.

He may be better in the league but he's going to need some time

Watching a bit the NBA playoff between Boston and Miami, it is an extremely physical and almost brutal playoff environment. Not sure BW is ready to face that kind of play. Fast money is always good but there should still be some value in playing with team mates in college ball and having that experience.

Regular season basketball isn't like this

The NBA doesn’t “develop” players !

If you’re not ready for Prime Time when you’ve declared for the draft, the NBA isn’t interested in undertaking a “works in progress”

Wrong.

If Blake Wesley believes he will be a first round pick, and he wants to declare, more power to him.

Have noticed a number of combine games on TV but did not see BW on any team. Did he play and how did he do?

It’s not wrong, it’s accurate !

What he believes and what NBA teams believe can and often are worlds apart.

Every high school player that went to the nba instead of going to college for one

Every g league player ever for two.

We'll start there

Lol
Like, Dawkins, Kobe and LaBron !

You’re cluelss

Name them

The NBA doesn’t draft players who need to be developed in order to play in the NBA.

With only 13 players on an active game roster, the NBA isn’t wasting a draft pick on a player that needs to be developed.

Ben Simmons was named “Rookie of the Year” proving that he was sufficiently developed to play in the NBA.

I know that Golson5 knows nothing about football, but now he can add basketball to his “know nothing” resume !

Players develop in the nba all the time
Players may improve their play with experience but the NBA does’t draft players who need to be developed, which is what you claimed.

You know nothing about football and you know nothing about basketball !

IF YOU HAD A BRAIN, AND IF YOU KNEW ANYTHING ABOUT BASKETBALL YOU’D KNOW THAT THE ABOVE IS A FUNCTION OF PLAYING TIME, NOT DEVELOPMENT !

Every time you post you detract from the total sum of human knowledge on the subjects of football and basketball !

You know nothing about both sports !

Can't believe you know even less about basketball than you do about football. Didn't think that was possible.

Never heard of the NBA G League ? Why would they sink money into something you claim they don't do ? Educate yourself.

You don’t think Ben Simmons need developing? Dude needs to develop a Juno shot and free throws.

there have been lots of college kids who need to develop once in the league. I can think of 2 all time greats who needed to develop jump shots, MJ and Magic.
