Notre Dame sophomore Jack Radel is the ACC pitcher of the Week, the first such honor by an Irish pitcher this season. Last week catcher Carson Tinney was ND's first Player of the Week this season.
Radel (5-3) had a career-high 12 strikeouts and matched his longest outing of his career with seven innings in Notre Dame’s 8-1 win Friday night over California. The sophomore right-hander needed just 93 pitches to earn the win on the night. He also allowed only four hits and walked one while earning his fourth-consecutive Friday conference win. The 12-strikeout total is tied for the fourth-most by an ACC pitcher in a game this season. Radel’s strong start on Friday propelled the Irish (22-17, 10-14) to their second consecutive weekend sweep as Notre Dame’s winning streak was pushed to eight games. ND goes for nine in a row Tuesday night at 7 ET at Purdue (25-18).
