I caught up with 2024 defensive end target Cole Mullins before he plans to visit Notre Dame Wednesday. The 6-foot-4, 240-pound recruit is listed as an outside linebacker by Rivals but is being recruited as a defensive end by the Irish and defensive line coach Al Washington.

"Me and my family are extremely excited," Mullins told Inside ND Sports. "I am looking forward to meeting with all of the coaches and watching the team practice. I can tell Coach Wash cares about his players. He knows a lot about football and is really easy to communicate with."

Growing up, Mullins said he remembers watching the Irish and seeing Notre Dame Stadium full of energy.

"It means a lot to have the opportunity to play for Notre Dame," Mullins said. "The history and support the school and program have make it special."

As a junior, the Notre Dame target recorded 58 tackles and six sacks for Hoschton (Ga). Mill Creek last season. Mullins said he likes to impose his physicality in the trenches and lead his defense by example.

He hasn't been assigned a star rating or ranking by Rivals. Mullins reports 20 total offers including Duke, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Notre Dame, North Carolina, USC and Wake Forest. He visited Duke April 1-2 and also visited the Blue Devils in January.
