Under head coach Marcus Freeman, Notre Dame football has recruited the quarterback position at a high level according to the rating and rankings scale. The Irish currently have commitments from 2024 four-star quarterback CJ Carr and 2025 four-star quarterback Deuce Knight, both of whom rank top 30 in the national rankings per Rivals.
The Irish have already offered six quarterbacks in the 2026 recruiting class — USC commit Julian Lewis, Brady Smigiel, Noah Grubbs, Jared Curtis, Ryder Lyons and Will Griffin. Grubbs is the only target among that group that visited Notre Dame this season and camped with Guidugli last summer.
2026 quarterback Cam O'Hara doesn't have an offer from Notre Dame yet but visited earlier this season. He attends Union (Ky.) Cooper and has offers from Austin Peay, Eastern Kentucky, Kentucky, Miami (Ohio), Tennessee State and Western Kentucky.
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound signal caller has completed 182-of-262 attempts for 2702 yards, 39 yards and five touchdowns for Cooper this season.
I caught up with O'Hara to discuss more of his sophomore season, his interest in Notre Dame and more. O'hara told me he hopes to camp at Notre Dame next summer.
On his interest in the Irish and Sept. visit:
"I got to talk to all the recruiting coaches," O'Hara told Inside ND Sports. "Watching coach Gino [Guidugli] and the quarterbacks was awesome just watching them warm up and play at a high level is amazing."
On his play style as a quarterback:
"My skill set as a quarterback would be sitting in the pocket and delivering either difficult passes in the deep threat range or delivering passes to my guys and letting them get the ball and run."
On Notre Dame's coaching staff and potential offer:
"The coaches and recruiting coaches showed a lot of love. An offer from the Irish would be amazing just being able to compete at that level would be amazing."
