Notre Dame men's basketball will attempt to do what it nearly did in January: beat Duke.

The Irish lost to the Blue Devils 67-59 in South Bend on Jan. 6, in a game they very easily could have won.

But nothing has been easy for Notre Dame (7-15, 2-9 ACC) in the middle of its six-game losing streak. No. 9 Duke (16-5, 7-3) should be plenty motivated in Cameron Indoor Stadium coming off its road loss to No. 3 North Carolina on Saturday.

Duke is led by center Kyle Filipowski, who averages 17.7 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. The 7-foot sophomore scored just seven points on 2-of-12 shooting in the win over Notre Dame last month. The Blue Devils leaned on forward Mark Mitchell (23 points and 14 rebounds) and guard Jeremy Roach (18 points and four steals) in that victory.

Anthonie Knapp is trying new things at Notre Dame, like working at center, but he's used to pushing himself through change.

“I keep having a mindset not to prepare for the worst, but it’s only going to get harder and harder. That’s what made the transition easier for me. I’m expecting a full day. It’s like a full-time job. You have to love it and that’s what makes it easy.”

It's that time of year where everyone who covers college and pro football will start ranking and mock drafting for the 2024 NFL Draft.

Pro Football Focus released its top 200 draft prospects for 2024. As you can imagine, Joe Alt received the highest ranking for Notre Dame at No. 5 overall. He was one of seven Notre Dame players on the list.

But can you guess the second-highest ranked Notre Dame prospect? I'll cover the rest with a spoiler for those who want to guess.

I've logged a FutureCast for the Irish to land Strebig. He's been to campus several times and loves what Notre Dame has to offer. Strebig would be a cornerstone of the class for 2025 that already sits at No. 1 in the Rivals rankings.

Jayden Harrison's exact role wasn't outlined in Notre Dame's transfer portal recruitment of the former Marshall wide receiver. Instead, he was pitched on being a piece on a team ready to make a College Football Playoff run.

“That phrase is big, because they know what they’re looking for,” Harrison said, “and they know they need the pieces to go play big to compete for a national championship.”

Three-star defensive end CJ May, who has been committed to Notre Dame since September, has ditched his pledge to the Irish. May confirmed this with Inside ND Sports on Sunday night.

May has made multiple visits to Auburn since making his original pledge to the Irish and has expressed an interest in looking into other options.

In a post on X/Twitter Wednesday, 2025 offensive tackle target Owen Strebig announced his commitment date for Feb. 8 at 5 p.m. EST.

Notre Dame is included in Strebig’s finalists along with Wisconsin, Florida, Miami (Fla.) and USC. Strebig was last on campus for junior day.

Per Rivals, the 6-foot-8, 295-pound Strebig is a four-star recruit and the No. 66 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class. He is the No. 1 player in Wisconsin and No. 6 offensive tackle in the 2025 class.

The recruit out of Waukesha (Wisc.) Catholic Memorial has visited Notre Dame six times in his recruitment dating back to last April.

Notre Dame extended an offer to a Rivals250 member in the 2025 recruiting class on Monday.

Trystan Haynes, a 2025 four-star cornerback out of Midwest City (Okla.) Carl Albert, picked up an offer from the Irish. The 6-foot-1, 165-pound cornerback has 16 total offers including Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Miami (Fla.) Missouri, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas A&M. He was in Athens (Ga.) this past weekend for the Bulldogs junior day.

Per Rivals, Haynes is the No. 192 overall player and No. 20 cornerback in the 2025 class. He is ranked higher than the two 2025 cornerback targets Mark Zackery (No. 197) and Dallas Golden (No. 209) ND hosted last month for junior day.

According to MaxPreps, Haynes had 51 tackles, seven pass breakups, three interceptions and three forced fumbles last season. Carl Albert finished 14-0 and won the state championship.

Irish with a huge two-week stretch ahead, starting with a road test at No. 15 Louisville on Thursday night. Then it's Florida State (Also receiving votes in the poll) on Sunday in Tallahassee, then No. 3 NC State at home on Thursday Feb. 15, and a road date Monday, Feb. 19 at surging (ARV) Duke.

As the nation’s premier high school sporting event for 25 years, the All-American Bowl has historically featured 100 of the top senior high school football players from across the country. The All-American Bowl is played in the Alamodome in San Antonio, TX and is broadcast annually on NBC and Peacock. The All-American Bowl is the most-watched and highest-attended high school sporting event in the country.

Since its inception in December of 2000, the All-American Bowl has featured high school senior football players. Moving forward, the game will start to include the top high school juniors who will suit up to play alongside top senior upperclassmen from across the country.

“Given the changing landscape at the collegiate level, our senior participants are graduating high school earlier and enrolling in and attending college as early as December. As a result, the All-American Bowl is pivoting to now include top juniors for the upcoming 2025 All-American Bowl,” said Jon Miller, President, Acquisitions and Partnerships of NBC Sports, owner-operator of the event. “This change will allow more top juniors to make their college declarations on network television.” The 2025 All-American Bowl will be played Saturday, January 11th, 2025, which marks the 25th anniversary of the game.

Former Notre Dame guard Cormac Ryan celebrated No. 3 North Carolina's 93-84 win over No. 7 Duke with some Tar Heel fans last night.

Ryan, who's averaging 10.8 points per game, scored nine points in the victory.

New Notre Dame WR Kris Mitchell: “I want to show them I can take the top off of any defense. I can stretch the field. I can catch a slant. I can take it for 70. Whatever they need me to do, I can make the big plays when it’s there."

With claims of a 4.3 40 and a 22-mph practice speed, the FIU transfer has big numbers to back up in an offense that should give him that opportunity.
