and recruited Buchner instead. Not saying McCarthy is an elite QB, but he's definitely proven to be a far better QB than Buchner. Considering the other QB's Kelly and Rees recruited, it does make one question their ability to identify talented QB's. The new staff has clearly stepped it up. Interesting article.

Kelly and Rees locked in on qbs too early and allowed them to commit before they showed they were living up to their early recruiting rankings. Pyne should have never been allowed to commit and Buchner should have been recruited over once he changes motion and couldn’t throw the ball

What are you talking about? Daniel's had over 19 offers and was highly recruited by teams including, Alabama, Georgia, Oregon, Ohio State, and LSU coming out of high school.
Offers mean little with QB's. You take 1 per cycle, and the school has to choose the 1.

Many schools passed on actually signing Daniels. That's why he signed with Arizona State.

You are clueless. You have no idea what you're talking about. He was a high 4 star recruit coming out of high school and although he received an abundance of offers he narrowed his schools down to ASU, UCLA, and USC. This makes perfect sense since he was from the west coast and most likely wanted to stay closer to home.

You're entitled to your opinion. These schools often offer multiple QB's every cycle. You can't sign them all, and Daniels was not a priority for USC.

That’s why they’re paid the big bucks!

With the portal the importance of recruiting and developing your own QB is virtually meaningless.

Assuming Leonard starts this year Marcus Freeman will have been on the job 3 full seasons and we will still be waiting to see a Marcus Freeman recruited QB land the job of QB1 at ND.

This year your Heisman Trophy Winner Daniels and the 2 Heisman runners up (Pennix Jr & Nix) all came from the portal.

Ewers from Texas another CFP QB came from the portal. FSU already got their QB next year from the portal.

I'm assuming JJ McCarthy pledged his loyalty at some point as a HS prospect, And he was begging to come to ND and devote his very soul to the betterment of the fortunes of old ND. And yet ND shunned and scorned him, and turned all their attention and affections to TB instead, who we ultimately signed.

Otherwise, wtf is the OP talking about? He's just a recruit that we didn't get.

He is better off at Michigan

If he played for BK, you would probably be trying to forget him!
