Overall, other than JT Daniels injury and a lukewarm Michigan victory—it was as good for SOS.
1) BC beat the ACC’s Preseason #4 team. Would be awesome except Hokies also on the schedule.
2) Virginia beats Pitt (ACC#10) for a road conference win against a team that beat them last year in Charlottesville.
3) Georgia won convincingly and impressively outgaining Vandy 2 to 1.
4) Bowling Green crushed a Morgan State team that had 17 starters back with high expectations in MEAC--I know its the MEAC but it was 46-3.
5) Navy blew out a slightly above average FCS team in Holy Cross 45-7.
6) Stanford holds off game NW team in a “bad beat” disaster for anyone who took NW with the points.
7) New Mexico—let’s face it any win for Lobos is a good win, and Bearkats may be in the FCS Playoffs.
8) Michigan (-34) beat Middle Tennessee by 19 (and outgained the Blue Raiders by 150 yards) but Middle had graduated its all-time best QB and 14 starters.
9) Duke lost 42-3 to Alabama in a game that was 14-3 at half, pretty much what you would expect—maybe a tad worse.
10) USC lost JT Daniels and held on to beat a game Fresno team that has a good coach but little returning talent.
11) Va. Tech. See # 1.
