Might I say, take the time to appreciate having a player like J. Smith on the field this season. He might honestly be the best defensive player I have seen at ND in a generation. If he stays healthy there is no doubt in my mind he leads the team in defensive stats. And may crack the top 3 in college football for total defensive stats. The kid is just a beast

Better than Manti Te'o? Smith is a hell of a LBer.

100 days seems like a long time. will enjoy the summer and baseball.

What is interesting is it is only 84 days between the first game and the last regular season game at Stanford. Lot's of action packed into a short season.

Yes. I believe he is superior in every athletic stat to Manti.

I would give Manti the nod in both leadership.. And that 'X' factor. Manti was a presence everywhere. Both on and off the field, on the offense and the defense. Kind of the ND version of a Tim Tebow (though not as successful )

Jaylon though, is faster, more powerful, is better at tracking down the ball. And more disruptive on the field. Time and again last year, you could see the opponents offense visually change to get away from Smith.
